Become a language volunteer
Do you want to make a difference for victims of crime, witnesses and affected relatives?
As a language volunteer at Victim Support Sweden you will support and help victims of crime, witnesses and affected relatives in their own language. You will listen, give advice and provide information regarding the legal process.
What do we offer?
As a support person or witness support in Victim Support Sweden you make a contribution for others that will give back tenfold. You will receive an comprehensive education of a total of 30 hours, including practical training. You also get the opportunity to take part in internal training as well as gaining an extensive knowledge within the victims of crime area. Through being an active volunteer within Victim Support Sweden you will also become an active part of a community consisting of warmth and empathy.
Requirements:
To be a language volunteer you have to be empathetic, responsible and have a genuine desire to help and support victims of crime.
You also need to:
- be at least 18 years old
- have time and possibility to take on the assignment. It is important that you are able to set aside approximately 3-4 hours/month to respond to errands
- speak the language in question, as well as Swedish, fluently
- share Victim Support Sweden’s values and be a good fellow human being.
You will work out of our office in Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm and provide support over the phone.
We are always in need of more support persons in languages other than Swedish and English, but right now we are specifically looking for volunteers that speak one or more of the following languages:
- Arabic
- Dari
- Persian/Farsi
- Somali
- Thai
- Turkish
