Victim Support

A victim support advisor is a fellow human being who can provide the victim with compassion, support and practical advice. You can have only one meeting or several, depending on what you need. You don’t have to report the crime to the police in order to get our support, it doesn’t cost anything, and you can stay anonymous in your contact with us.

The victim support advisor knows which government contacts you might need and can help you fill out different forms. They can also help with information regarding criminal damages reimbursement as well as talk you through the legal process and come with you to the court house. If you need psychological or medical assistance they can also provide you with correct contact information for this.

All victim support advisors have signed a promise of silence, which means that anything you say is said in confidence and will not reach anyone else. Since we are not a government institution, we are not bound legally to a secrecy law, however, the promise is ethical and personally binding.

In addition, each victim support advisor has to go through extensive training as well as a continued education within their role. The advisors have themselves volunteered for the role or they have been asked by the board of the local victim support centre.
